Internships

Internships at Scholastic Canada provide opportunities for students to gain experience in the publishing field, determine if they have an interest in a particular career, create a network of contacts, or gain school credit. The internship program strives to provide meaningful work experience with on the job coaching and mentoring in a professional business environment in the publishing field.

Internship positions are offered in the following divisions:

Education Publishing, Marketing and Graphic Design — 175 Hillmount Road, Markham, ON
Publishing — 604 King Street West, Toronto, ON
Marketing — 604 King Street West, Toronto, ON
Creative Services/Production — 604 King Street West, Toronto, ON

Although little or no related work experience is necessary, a team player and self starter with a professional and positive attitude is required. Above all, a love of reading and enthusiasm for children’s literature are mandatory!

The successful intern applicant will also have the following competencies:

  • Well-developed organizational skills and communication skills;
  • A strong eye for detail;
  • The ability to multi-task and establish priorities;
  • Ability to take direction from others;
  • Comfortable with asking questions;
  • Proficiency in the following Microsoft Office applications:
    • Word
    • PowerPoint
    • Outlook
    • Excel
Those applying for a Creative Services or Graphic Design placement will also need to display competency working on the Apple Macintosh platform and a working knowledge of Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator, Adobe Acrobat and Adobe InDesign in addition to the Microsoft Office applications mentioned above. Some familiarity with QuarkXpress is an asset.
