Book Fair Chairperson’s Role
Planning your Book Fair begins with you! Here are your key responsibilities as Chairperson:
Confirm Fair date with Book Fairs’ Consultant
Reserve largest space available to hold Fair
Recruit, train and motivate volunteers
Promote Fair to school community
Direct setup and running of Fair
Achieve sales goals to add resources to library & classrooms
Complete and submit payment to Scholastic Book Fairs
Modules:
Your Fair will arrive containing a wide assortment of product selected to meet the reading levels of your students. You may also choose additional table displays or “Modules” designed to meet the unique needs of your school.
Choose from:
All-time Favourites – Bestsellers, award-winners, favourite authors and classics
Canadian – Expanded selection of books by well-known Canadian authors and illustrators
Books for Boys – Variety of fiction and non-fiction books geared towards boys
Great Gifts – Hardcovers, boxed sets and items suitable for gift-giving
Parent Corner – Cookbooks, adult fiction and parenting books
Preschool – Product for parents with young children
Teaching Resources – Educational materials teachers can use in their classrooms
Speak with your Book Fairs’ Consultant 4-5 weeks before your Fair to select your Modules (subject to availability).

Promotions Guide
We have provided you with a downloadable Promotions Guide (4.96 MB PDF) and a new Themed Section – both on-line resources are full of ideas to help you celebrate your Book Fair using our current featured theme.
"Open Me First" Box
Look for this box with the arrival of your Fair. It includes all items necessary to decorate your table displays and make the most out of merchandising your Book Fair as well as several other important components including:
Book Easels
Table Stands and Signs
Table Covers
Profit Worksheet including Evaluation Questionnaire
Charge Card Program - package will include instructions, sales slips, signage, and in most cases an imprinter.
Recruit a Team
As Chairperson, you are the driving force behind your Book Fair's success. However, a successful Fair also depends upon the strong support of volunteers. Start to recruit volunteers now so they can reserve the dates on their calendars.
We suggest reading the important team building information in your Chairperson’s Guidebook. This information will make it easier for your team to set deadlines and proceed at a comfortable pace.
