Making It a Family Event!
Hold a special Family Event so parents and students can shop together. Try some of these fun and easy suggestions:
Activity Corner – Set up special area for younger children to keep busy while parents shop. Ask a volunteer or some older students to supervise.
Ballot Box – Make themed box to collect Family Event Door Prize ballots – place near cashier table.
 Classroom Wish List – Set up themed display board and encourage teachers and families to participate. Invite local businesses to take part with donations to purchase Wish List books.
 Loonies for Learning – Display the Loonies for Learning coin jar at your cashier table. Every $1 donation gives you $1.50 in additional library resources!
 Historic Photo Opt – Have one or two volunteers in costume greet visitors as they arrive for your Family Event. Students will enjoy having their photos taken with Cleopatra, Tutankhamen or one of the many deities of Ancient Egypt. Encourage parents to bring their cameras.
Student Showcase – Display contest entries, artwork, poems, stories and other theme-related items created by students.
Volunteers* – Have your volunteers wear name badges to be easily recognized at the Fair. They can also don T-Shirts decorated with the Pyramid of Books logo.
* See Volunteer Recruitment Poster and Volunteer Name Badges provided. You can also download artwork from Printable Resources section of our website onto printer transfer sheets (available at craft stores) and then iron onto T-shirts or other items. |
