The Haunting of Alaizabel Cray
by Chris Wooding

Thaniel, just seventeen, is a wych-hunter. Together, he and Cathaline — his friend and mentor — track down the fearful creatures that lurk in the Old Quarter of London. It is on one of these hunts that he first encounters Alaizabel Cray. Alaizabel is half-crazed, lovely, and possessed. Whatever dreadful entity has entered her soul has turned her into a strange and unearthly magnet — attracting evil and drawing horrors from every dark corner. Cathaline and Thaniel must discover its cause — and defend humanity at all costs.

Excerpt from THE HAUNTING OF ALAIZABEL CRAY
by Chris Wooding

Rawhead had already regained his feet by the time Thaniel had the charm-string ready, his heart trip-hammering against his ribs and cold sweat slicking his hands. No mark showed on the creature's face from the bullet, but he was certainly enraged. He lunged again, bellowing mindlessly, and Thaniel threw himself aside as the enemy thundered toward him. But Rawhead had moved faster than Thaniel had credited, and his dodge was clumsy. One foot snagged the other, and he felt himself trip. He lashed out with the charm-string as he fell, praying that fortune was with him.

This time, it was.

"It rocks, nothing else to say. Not sure what age group this is aimed at, but adults will most certainly enjoy it."
